The Weblog
This page contains news, event information, and other items added by Ian and Adam, the resident farmers at Old 99. We send out a message every week, but most are set with a delete date about two weeks later. I archive some of the posts if they have content other than weekly availability of produce and meat.
You can send me questions too, which if they are of a general nature, I can post to this Old99 blog.

Climate Awareness campaign Ward13 (Dundas/Flamborough)
Hello all,
The climate Crisis is in full bloom, in spite of being hidden in the noise of the covid pandemic.
I’m sending this to lists I have that include people living in Ward 13, Hamilton. I actually live on the boundary, ward 12 side of the road, but no matter. Ward 13 is Dundas but goes way out to Kirkwall and past to Concession 10 on north, and Hwy 6 on the east except for Waterdown.
There is an initiative started by two millennial aged residents to start some local response to the climate crisis. The co-founder Alex Wilson told me they are gauging interest in the climate issue, hoping to mobilize around specific issues, maybe even a ‘culture of engagement’ with the City’s climate plan.
The first session was on the weekend; two more happening via zoom on Wed 16th, one at 12 and one at 6pm Link to zoom call here: https://zoom.us/j/99196600647 Cell phone access 647-374-4685
A friend attended the first session and gives this report:
It was a very interesting discussion. 14 ppl attended including Community Permaculture Lab members, a few from Dundas Works, a lawyer involved in environmental issues, a few who are very involved with Dundas churches and community gardens.
It was a good coming together of people seeking some organization to channel and focus our energies on climate issues.
There are obvious pockets of good works happening in the community and a suggestion to inventory these activities for an overall community direction, given the lack of apparent action on the part of council.
Same link for all: https://zoom.us/j/99196600647
We first heard of it on December 12, I attach that message with attached poster. Due to short notice, you can email alexwilson751@gmail.com to express interest to be on the mailing list. I invite you to share this event with others.
Subject: Kitchen Table Talks on Climate Change and the Environment.
Dundas Works facilitators Bob, Jim, Margot, Michelle and Tim continue to “meet” over the pandemic months to figure out a path forward. With other community leaders showing us how to properly conduct large group meetings online, we are also working toward this goal in the new year to continue our roundtables. One of those leaders is Alex Wilson, who is Constituency Assistant to MPP Sandy Shaw. Alex was instrumental in a recent Town Hall Sandy held on Bill 229. Alex is excited to host a Kitchen Table Talk on Climate Change and the Environment. There are three virtual sessions set up depending on your availability: - Saturday December 12th from 2-4 pm - Wednesday December 16th from 1-2 pm - Wednesday December 16th from 6-8 pmDundas Works – Articulating a Shared Vision for our Valley Town

Give the gift or organic deliciousness this season.

“The kale I bought last week is still fresh and crispy. It tastes so good. Nothing like the stuff from the grocery store. I’m so glad we found your farm!”
This is a testimony from a customer who called me while they were on lunch break to tell me they really enjoyed their salad.
